The IECEx system provides a framework for the assessment and certification of equipment, services, and personnel involved in hazardous areas where flammable gases, vapors, mists, or combustible dusts may be present. Malaysia DOSH – IECEx Recognition

Malaysia recognizes and accepts IECEx certification for electrical equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres. The Malaysian Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) has adopted the IECEx certification system as the basis for assessing and approving electrical equipment for use in hazardous areas.

In Malaysia, the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standards of Exposure of Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000 (known as the USECHH Regulations) govern the safety of workers in hazardous areas. These regulations require employers to ensure that electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres complies with recognized international standards, such as those established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and certified through the IECEx system.

IECEx certification is widely accepted in Malaysia and is considered a reliable means to demonstrate compliance with safety requirements for hazardous areas.
